October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Stay tuned for more information about our “Donut Let Love Hurt”.  Local grocery stores donate donuts with purple frosting and hand them out with a flyer about how the Crisis Center works to end domestic violence as well as a purple ribbon.

October 2018…..This was a very successful year for our Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities. We partnered with Super Saver, Cobler Chiropractic, Central Community College (Grand Island Campus), Heartland CASA, Amur Financial, Xenon and 3rd City Christian church on our ‘Donut Let Love Hurt’ campaign. We had community partners such as Active Family Chiropractic, O’Connor Enterprises and Feel Fit Fitness change their electronic billboards in support of our mission. We took part in two television interviews and a radio spot. We were featured in both the Grand Island Independent and the Aurora News Register. Over 200 patrol cars tied purple ribbons to their antennas in support of this awareness. This included the Grand Island Police Department, Hall County Sheriff’s Department, Aurora Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol. We are completing this month with a round up fundraiser with our awesome partner Hy-Vee Grand Island. October 26, 2018-October 28, 2018 customers can round up their purchases to benefit the Crisis Center.
