Most people are familiar with garden walk fundraisers, but the Crisis Center in Grand Island has decided to take the idea one step further by including more than just gardens in its first-ever Outdoor Explore fundraiser.

The event will include a huge Husker-themed room and a backyard beach resort.

“We are excited to bring the garden walk back to the Grand Island area,” said Alexis Larson, executive director of the Crisis Center.

“Outdoor Explore: Gardens & More” will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. It will include a tour of yards in Grand Island that have outstanding decks, water or fire features, and gardens.

Each attendee will purchase a ticket that allows them admittance to the yards. Tickets will include a map to get to the sites, a personal message from each yard owner and information about the raffle items. Two of the five yards will feature a professional landscaper or gardener to answer any questions that participants may have.

Tickets may be purchased at the Crisis Center office, Hy-Vee, Feel Fit gym, Ace Hardware and Garden Center, Shelton Open Air Nursery and Lewis Greenscape for $15 each before the event or for $20 on the day of the event.
